Date Published:
Mon, 2009-02-23

Effective Monday, February 23, 2009, Dr. Friedberg will accept his appointment to Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine, Volunteer Clinical Faculty. Only 'Professor' ranks higher than 'Associate Professor.'

Office based anesthesia (OBA) is a rapidly growing field. After graduation, newly minted residents will have to function in this challenging environment . The new UCI department chairmen, Dr. Zeev Kain, formerly at Yale University, has accepted Dr. Friedberg's offer to teach OBA to the residents.

Dr. Friedberg will specifically be teaching his brain activity monitored, propofol ketamine (PK) technique. Although the technique was originally developed for cosmetic surgery, it has many non-cosmetic applications well suited to the office based setting.

At the same time Dr. Friedberg assumes his role as Associate Professor at UCI, he has resigned from USC where he was Assistant Professor for the past decade.
